ABOUT CLEAR PATHWAYS
A consultancy that would rather tell you to do less.
Clear Pathways exists because the expensive mistakes in technology are rarely bad engineering. They are the right work aimed at the wrong problem, chosen confidently and discovered in month four.
WHY THIS EXISTS
Most of what goes wrong was visible in week one.
The belief underneath this is unremarkable: most technology problems are diagnosable, and most organisations skip the diagnosis because it feels like delay. The result is a plan built from the architecture diagram somebody intended rather than the system that actually exists.
The gap between those two is where migrations overrun, rewrites take three times the estimate, and data platforms get bought to settle arguments that were really about definitions. None of that is a failure of engineering skill.
So the first thing we sell is a short, paid assessment with a written deliverable you own outright. A fair share of them conclude that the project under discussion is not the right one. That is a worse business model and a better outcome.
HOW WE WORK
Five commitments
Including two that cost us money: recommending less work, and building ourselves out of the engagement.
- Measure first
- An opinion about a system is not a finding. We would rather spend a week measuring than a quarter building the wrong thing.
- Smallest change
- The right recommendation is frequently less work than the one you came in expecting, and occasionally none at all.
- Work in the open
- In your repo, in your standups, with your engineers. Work that happens where you cannot see it is work you cannot inherit.
- Reversible steps
- Every slice stands alone and can be rolled back. That constraint costs a little speed and removes most of the catastrophic outcomes.
- Build to leave
- Handover is in the scope. If what we built needs us to keep running, we built it wrong.
WHAT WE DO NOT CLAIM
Being clear about the limits
- We do not guarantee cost reductions, uptime figures, delivery dates set before scoping, or that you will pass an audit. Estimates improve a great deal after an assessment; before one they would be guesses with confident numbers attached.
- We publish no client names, logos, testimonials or case studies, and there are none to publish here. Ask about relevant experience directly and you will get a straight answer.
- The scoping questions apply a short set of fixed rules to four answers. They are an orientation aid, not an assessment of your systems, and nothing is sent unless you choose to send it.
- We are not an auditor, a certification body, a managed service provider or a staffing agency, and we will say so rather than let an impression stand.
Clear Pathways does not publish a founder biography, team profiles, certifications, partner badges, a founding date or a company history on this site. Where those details are not yet confirmed, nothing stands in for them.
Start with an assessment, or just ask
The scoping questions take two minutes and need no email address. If you would rather describe it in your own words, the contact page is for that.
